The third annual Premier's Awards for Energy Efficiency were presented to 12 recipients by Premier David Alward in Fredericton. The awards were developed by Efficiency NB to recognize innovation and leadership in energy efficiency in New Brunswick. Alward said he was impressed by the diversity among the award winners. "There are industries, municipalities, individuals, students and not-for-profit organizations from all corners of the province," he said. "All of them have recognized the importance of energy efficiency and understand the value of reducing energy use." Alward congratulated the winners for their achievements, and he encouraged New Brunswickers to follow their example by looking for ways to become more efficient at home and at work. Outstanding Energy Efficiency Project Awards were presented to the best performers in six of Efficiency NB's energy efficiency incentive programs:

Energy Efficiency Champion- Commercial Sector
The Energy Efficiency Champion Commercial Sector Award will recognize an individual or group within the commercial and institutional sector who advocates energy efficiency and displays leadership through activities such as planning, auditing, facility and energy management.
Energy Efficiency Champion- Large Industrial Sector Large Industry Sector Energy Champion is one who has overcome barriers and garnered internal commitments to make energy efficiency happen within their organization. They advocate energy efficiency and display leadership and innovation through activities such as planning, project development, energy management and employee engagement. Energy Efficiency Champion- Residential Sector The Energy Efficiency Champion – Residential Sector will recognize a property owner, who is an advocate of energy efficiency and who, through a new construction or an existing home retrofit has displayed leadership and best practices in the area of energy efficiency. Owners of single-family or multi-unit residential buildings are eligible for this award. Energy Efficiency Champion- Small and Medium Industrial Sector The SMI Sector Energy Champion is one who has overcome barriers and garnered internal commitments to make energy efficiency happen within their organization. Evidence of "making it happen" could be the implementation of a project, EMIS or capacity building initiative that produced a measurable improvement in energy efficiency OR the plan for such a project or initiative with clear evidence of some activity and next steps underway. " Energy Efficiency Champion- Individual The Energy Efficiency Champion – Individual Award will recognize an Individual from New Brunswick who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment to energy efficiency in the community, workplace, home, neighbourhood, school, etc., even though “energy management” is not his or her primary role. The Community Award for Outstanding Energy Efficiency Achievement was presented to teacher Darrell Turnbull and his Grade 12 Advance Technology/ Environmental Science class from Carleton North High School in Bristol.
Outstanding Energy Efficiency Achievement- Community The Outstanding Energy Efficiency Achievement – Community Award will recognize a city, town, village, local service district, not for profit organization or group who has excelled in sustainable energy efficiency campaigns or projects in their community.
