New Commercial Buildings Incentive Program

peterbilt_moncton.jpg

Peterbilt NB’s new building in Moncton’s Caledonia Industrial Park is a showstopper, when compared to other heavy duty truck dealerships.

New commercial building construction in New Brunswick should lead North America in terms of building performance and sustainability. Owners, project managers, and engineering/architectural design teams are strongly encouraged to contact Efficiency NB and discuss the development of design documents and available funding to enable your new building to become a leader in energy conservation and environmental performance.

Program Description

Start Smart New Commercial Buildings Incentive Programs provides financial incentives of up to $60,000 to offset the costs associated with designing sustainable high efficiency buildings.

The incentive for an eligible building that meets the criteria is calculated as a one-time financial contribution.

Start Smart Performance Path (Energy Modelling)

Start Smart Performance Path- New Commercial Buildings Incentive Program provides financial incentives of up to $60,000 to offset the costs associated with designing sustainable high efficiency buildings based on estimated annual energy savings.

The building must be modelled in reference to the Model National Energy Code for Buildings – 1997 (MNECB) to determine the estimated annual energy cost avoidance, and have achieved a performance of 30% or better than the minimum requirements.

Start Smart Prescriptive Path (Core Performance)

Start Smart Prescriptive Path - Core Performance ENB Edition is an exciting new program designed to achieve significant, predictable energy savings in new commercial buildings. The program provides financial incentives through compliance with the prescriptive Core Performance Guide Efficiency NB Edition which lists proven measures that are applicable to small and medium buildings in order to help facilitate the energy efficient design of these buildings with no energy modelling required.

The eligible building must comply to the Design Process Strategies and Core Performance requirements as outlined in the Core Performance Guide Efficiency NB Edition. Incentives are available through compliance to these measures. As well, additional incentives are available for eligible buildings that also are in compliance with some or all of the Enhanced Performance strategies.
