This workshop is in response to the growing demand by consumers to improve the energy efficientcy of their homes. Since January 2007, over 22,000 New Brunswick households have had home energy evaluations done under the NB Existing Homes Energy Efficiency Upgrades Program. Many of these homeowners are looking for knowledgeable contractors to take on their renovation projects. In addition to advice, the NB Upgrades Program provides New Brunswick homeowners with financial assistance to make their houses more energy efficient.
The two-day course, developed by Natural Resources Canada and sponsored by Efficiency NB, focuses on the unique challenges faced by contractors when improving the energy efficiency of existing homes. Contractor training courses allow the contractor to be up to date on all the energy-efficient methods and techniques. The course covers basic principles related to heat loss, air leakage and moisture control. It also covers a wide range of new and traditional building products and techniques.
