Steven M. Taylor, QCxP, RPA, CEM, LEED® AP is Vice President of HRCx, a dedicated commissioning division of Hidi Rae Consulting Engineers. His interest in commissioning started in merchant shipping as a Marine Engineer involved in Sea Trials and ship construction. After making a transition to shore based commercial property management, Steven became interested in the reasons as to why relatively straight forward building systems consistently failed to perform anywhere near acceptable levels. After 10 years involved in property management working with Engineers to improve operator education, Steven shifted into consulting where he has been involved in providing solutions to property owners for improving existing building performance and establishing an initial benchmark for new building performance. Steve is currently designated as OCxP Commissioning Process Provider, RPA Real Property Administrator, Certified Energy Manager, LEED AP O and M, Marine and Stationary Operating Engineer. He is the lead instructor for the Certified Energy Auditor program in Canada and consulted on the CSA Z318 Commissioning standard.
